The Flowers of Monet
The Flowers of Monet
The other passion of Monet
Oscar-Claude Monet is the famous French impressionist painter renown for paintings such as "Woman with the parasol" or "Water lilies" which can be enjoyed at different museums around the world. However when I first visited Monet's homestead in the Normandy region of France, this is where I discovered his lesser known passion, it is an experience that is best enjoyed in-person in the spring, summer, and early fall where you can see them in all their splendor.
Monet's other passion for floriculture, horticulture, and nature is beautifully evident to visitors of his homestead, the moment you set foot on the grounds. You will never look at the "Water lilies" painting the same way again after you have visited his homestead.
Here is a sneak-preview of the visual array of flowers and plants that await you at Monet's homestead, this is a must visit for art and nature aficionados.

Monet's gardens
There are two parts to Monet's garden at his homestead, the flower garden named "Clos Normande" which are enclosed and have various varieties of plants and flowers growing within the same enclosure. The second part of the garden is the Japanese inspired water garden which is the inspiration for the "Water lilies" paintings. When you see this in person, it becomes easy to see why Monet made several series of paintings inspired by this water garden.

Monet's love for botany blooms
Monet's green-thumb and his avid interest in botany led to the beautiful garden at the homestead in Normandy where he spent the remainder of his life. The garden is full of exotic and local floral and fauna that bloom in spring, summer, and fall.
